10, 13 and 17 Seater Urbania in Bangalore

Group hire across Bengaluru and out of it, with chauffeurs who have driven the ghat roads west before they drive yours.

Almost every group trip out of Bengaluru involves a ghat section, and that single fact shapes how we crew and plan them. Coorg, Chikmagalur, Sakleshpur, Wayanad and Ooty all finish with a sustained climb on roads that are well surfaced but narrow, with blind hairpins and a steady stream of oncoming traffic that has no intention of slowing down. A long-wheelbase Urbania is entirely capable of these roads. The difference between a comfortable climb and a queasy one is almost entirely the chauffeur, which is why we assign people who run these routes regularly rather than whoever is free.

The other Bengaluru-specific problem is getting out of Bengaluru. Distance is a poor predictor of time here: the first twenty kilometres routinely take as long as the next hundred. Heading west towards Mysuru or Coorg, the constraint is the exit through Kengeri and Bidadi; going north for Hyderabad or Tirupati it is Hebbal and the airport road; going towards Salem or Ooty it is Hosur Road through Electronic City. On a Friday evening any of these can add two hours. We would far rather leave at five in the morning than at eight, and we will push for it.

Central Bengaluru pickups need thinking about in advance. Streets in Malleswaram, Basavanagudi and the older parts of Jayanagar are narrow with parking on both sides, and a seventeen seater cannot turn in them. We will look at your address and, where it is tight, propose a main-road meeting point a short walk away. Apartment complexes are a separate question again — many basement car parks have a height barrier well under the roof line of an Urbania, so the vehicle waits at the gate.

On seater choice, groups leaving Bengaluru tend to under-buy. A weekend in Coorg for ten people generates far more luggage than the same ten people going to a wedding, because everybody brings a jacket, a bag of supplies and something for the children. The thirteen seater with a row folded is the workhorse for this, and the seventeen is worth the extra length once you are past thirteen passengers or genuinely loaded. If you are hesitating between the two, tell us the bag count and we will decide it on that rather than on the headcount.
